Water Resistance Experiment by Aiden and Sam Year 7

How does shape of an object affect the time to get to the bottom of a liquid? There have many forces in Earth. For example: friction, gravity, air resistance etc. But now our main thing is buoyancy and water resistance. So how does the shape of the object effect the time it flows to the bottom of the liquid? Water resistance   So, what is water resistance? Water resistance is one types of force, which is the objects are endure the water. For example, there are has boats in water, because they have buoyancy and in bottom of boat. Why it can float on the water it's because if an object stays in a place which didn't move so it is a balanced…

Does different types of hair (long, short, curly, straight) affect the amount of static electricity produced?

Does different types of hair (long, short, curly, straight) affect the amount of static electricity produced? Abstract: The object of our project is to determine which type cause the most static electricity. We used long hair (curly), long hair (straight), short hair, wet hair to be tested. I also used the scraps of tissue (one centimetre each) and test the amount of the static electricity. The comb that we used showed the different types of hair could produced the different amount of static electricity. My conclusion is that we did a good result for all of these different amount of static electricity. We successful get a lot of data and work hardly…

Metals in Hydrochloric Acid Experiment – Elavi, Jake, Yonny – Y7

What happens when you put metals into hydrochloric acid?   The objective of our experiment is to see what would happen to different metals if mixed with hydrochloric acid over the time span of 20 minutes. Our variables were the following metals: copper, zinc, magnesium, iron and aluminium. We also used beakers, scales and test tubes to let the chemical reaction take place in. After this experiment, we found out that magnesium was the most reactive when mixed with hydrochloric acid. On the other hand, zinc, iron and copper had almost no effects on the acid. To conclude, we found out that some metals are more reactive than others and that you don't…

Do different genres of music effect the rate of plant growth Ethan and Linus – Y7 Ethan and Linus

Our Hypothesis is If we change the genres of music will it affect the rate of plant growth? Objective/goal: The objective of our project is to determine what genre of music effects the plant the most. Methods/Material: we used soil, plastic pots, crest seed, ipads, headphones and a small beaker to water. conclusion: our conclusion is unfortunate because none of  our plants grow we even replanted the seeds but we had no luck, so the results of our experiment is unknown.  😪 Our background Research KEY WORDS  Glucose = a simple sugar which is an important energy source in living organisms and is a component of many carbohydrates.  Stoma = any of the…

Reflection: How does the shape of object effect the time to get to the bottom of a liquid

At the start we thought that the disk and the cube is the fastest to get to the bottom but in the experience we found that the sphere is the fastest. First,we found that all of the shapes speed is very fast so we can't measure the accurate time so we practise a lots of time and we finally make it accurate. Also, in the middle of the experience we try lots of time. word meaning: Water resistance   So, what is water resistance? Water resistance is one types of force, which is the objects are endure the water. For example, there are has boats in water, because they have buoyancy and in bottom of boat. Why it can float on…

Will the size of the parachute effect the speed of it falling down? Larysa Year 7

Will the size of the parachute effect the speed of it falling down?  Abstract The objective of our project is to estimate and prove if  the size of the parachute effects the speed of it falling down. We used:  -eggs -small size plastic bag, two medium size and large -string -double sided tape -stopwatch My conclusion is that different sized parachutes can affect the time of it falling down. Procedure construct three parachutes, one for each size (small medium large) take the smallest parachute and tape it to an egg. put the bottom of the egg at the height of two meters and drop it repeat step 2 and 3 repeat for…

Does Light Affect The Rate Of Mould Growth On Bread-Erik and Jerry-Year 7

How does the amount of light affect the growth of mould on bread? Background research paper Our science fair project is a project about testing the rate of mould growth on bread. For this project we need to know as much about fungus’s as possible and be able to use different amounts of light to see how that can change the amount of mould that grows. Mould- A type of common fungus Stachybotrys- Black mould, the most dangerous type of mould. Growth- when something grows into something larger Fungi-any of a group of spore-producing organisms feeding on organic matter, including moulds. Testable- something possible to find out through some type of test.…

PH Affecting Plant Growth Rachel and Frank Y7

Plants have been around on Earth for billions and billions of years. They have already played an extremely important role in the history of human civilisations.  Plants are everywhere in our lives. They affect our eating, drinking, clothing, transportation and many other aspects of human lives. Imagine our lives without plants, it would be a disaster. Knowing the pH affecting plant growth will help humans to use land in a better way. Background Research: Plants are important to life on earth, they give us food, oxygen and so on. There are lots variables affecting plants’ growths. Water is one of the most important of them. In the natural world there are lots of elements that can…

Rocket to NASA Sky – by Seobin and Harisha Y7

Abstract: Question: Does changing the launch angle of a rocket change the distance it flies? Hypothesis: If the launch angle of a rocket is changed, then the distance that the rockets flies will change. Methods and Materials: We used 3 sets of water rockets, a big beaker, pump,  one ramp, and sand bags. We also used a trundle wheel and a large protractor to measure distances and angles. Results: When it was 60 degree, rocket didn't go long distance. The average distance was 27.9m. However, when rocket was launching at 15 degree, it was the most long distance. The most long distance was 64m. Conclusions: When it is 15 degree, the water…

Does Noise Effect Plant’s Growth? Year7 Hayden and Dean

Abstract: Does noise effect the rate of plant's growth? Objectives: To find out does noise effect the rate of plant's growth, then find out is the effect good or bad. Methods and Materials: I used 1 iPad to play noise from YouTube, 1 headphone to play it to the plant, 2 pots and 2 seeds with 500g each to plant them. I also water and use ruler to measure their height. Results: The grass with noise had grown up to 20cm high, but the grass without noise was drowned because of too much water!! Conclusions: The death of the control plant leave us no comparison to plant with noise. Background Research Paper…
